When you are new to TFT, it can feel like trying lots of different comps should help you improve faster.
If you play a different comp every game, it seems like you will learn more units, more items, and gain more experience.
But if your goal is to practice and improve, it often works better to do the opposite at first.
Pick one strong comp and play it again and again.
Repeating the same comp does more than teach you how that comp works.
It also makes it easier to compare the games you win with the games you lose, which makes your own mistakes easier to see.
First, make sure the comp you are practicing is actually strong enough.
If you lose with a weak comp or a comp you built yourself, it becomes difficult to tell what went wrong.
If you start from a strong comp, you can at least reduce one source of uncertainty:
Maybe I lost simply because the comp itself was weak.
That makes it easier to look at your own play and ask where the problem actually was.
When you play the same comp over and over, you stop seeing each game as only:
“I was strong this game.”
