Players often ask:

“When should I spend my gold?”

“How far should I roll?”

Start with one rule:

If you spend gold, turn it into a board that can win.

Spending halfway, becoming only slightly stronger, and still losing often means you failed to accomplish the reason you spent in the first place.

But that does not mean spending unlimited gold to win one fight.

The goal is:

Build a board that can win.

Build that board as cheaply as possible.

Spend until you reach a winning board

Suppose your current board is too weak, so you level.

If you already have a useful unit on your bench and adding it makes you strong enough, leveling alone accomplished the goal.

Once you reach the line where you can win, stop spending.

If leveling does not make you strong enough, you may also need to roll and upgrade the board.

The important question is not “How much gold did I leave?” If you stop with 10g but still lose, the gold you spent did not fully accomplish the goal of protecting HP. On the other hand, if leveling alone makes you strong enough to win, you can stop there and carry the remaining gold forward.

It is:

Did the gold I spent actually make my board strong enough to win?

The cost includes the interest you lose

Suppose you go from 50g to 30g.
